SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!

I apologize for not updating my blog very often. Things are starting to wind down and everything is getting a little more hectic. I am trying to finish up my online class, get my summer and fall classes lined up, work in Congressman Conaway’s office, and still have a great experience in DC!

The work week has not been too crazy lately; everything is still calm since we are in recess. We will be in recess this week too! Which just adds to the perfect weather we have received.

Thursday night,a few of us enjoyed some Chips, queso, and hot sauce at Tortilla Coast. After T Coast, Lori, Angie and I went to the movies. It was a nice little outing. Since it was a weekday, there weren't many people in the theater either. I enjoyed our sweats and comfy shoe movie date. I have a picture of us at Tortilla Coast, and us waiting for the metro to go to the movies.

We all had a lot of fun this weekend. We did not have work Friday, so my staff assistant, Rae-Lynn, and I spent the day together hanging out. We grabbed some lunch then head over to her apartment rooftop to hang out and tan. It was fun and relaxing! Later, our friend, who is a staff assistant in another office, joined us. After we had enough time in the sun, we rested up and then met back up at Tortilla Coast. We stayed there for quite a while. It was so much fun! The picture of us three is posted in this blog.

The next day, Saturday, was the official Cherry Blossom Festival. Five of us girls went and walked about the Tidal Basin, Harbor, and National Mall just seeing it all. We walked along the water and got to see all of the Cherry Blossoms at their peak. It was gorgeous, and so crowded. The town was full of tourists. We spent the afternoon at the Sylvan Theater, listening to music from all around the world. There were belly dancers and everything! It was quite a sight! Next weekend, is the official Cherry Blossom Parade- we definitely can’t miss that!

That evening, we waited up and watched the thirty minute firework show. It was so pretty. But as soon as the fireworks ended, we darted straight to Jackey’s (the Chinese food restaurant). We were starving!

Sunday was a beautiful day. A big group of interns went to Church, and later went and enjoyed a nice Easter brunch at Belga’s.

After brunch, Juliet and I grabbed my kite and headed to the National Mall. There was a church band (accordion included) playing church songs, and tons of kickball and Frisbee games. It was such an active mall for it being Easter Sunday. But then again, it was such a pretty day. After some hard-core kite flying, we treated ourselves to some popsicles and sat in the shade while listening to the church band.

Before we knew it, we had to hurry back to the Tech House and get ready for our dinner. We had another dinner with Dr. Eighmy at Jaleo’s. It was a nice Easter dinner, and he was very kind to spend his Easter evening with us.

The rest of the night was spent getting classes ready for Tech class registration. Class registration started April 5th, making things a little nerve racking. Hopefully my schedule won’t be too stressful. It is crazy to think that I only have one more year! Yikes!

Monday did not feel like a regular Monday. The office was pretty slow, weather was great, and the town wasn’t really crowded or busy. I was able to get registered for all but two classes. Now I just have to wait for the professor’s approval.

Until next time,
madelon
